Many of us in who avoid UPI apps, learned today that, we can send money to people using just phone number and bankname option of . Or you need Account number and IFSC. In many situations, where people only accept UPI, this could open up another easier option. It is not as smooth as UPI, but could still work as people don't need to remember / share account details, they would still know their phone number and bank name already.
We have tips like this in https://wiki.fsci.in/UPI

@praveen While UPI is not a pain in the ass for me, I still think it exploits people into spending more than they actually need because it chips away the physical element of money. IMPS sounds good. I have bank accounts with banks that aren't mentioned in the wiki yet. I'll try it and update the wiki.

@SpaciousCoder78 It'd be good if we can collect a list of Banks where this is supported with Net Banking. Looks like don't support it. So far we confirmed Federal Bank and Bank of Baroda works.

@praveen

That wiki is amazing!

@praveen e-rupee is another alternative, which is a drop-in replacement, in the sense that you can scan those upi qr codes which you see at merchants with your e-rupee bank app.

@kishy is a proprietary app mandatory or are there ways to use e-rupee without it?

@praveen

@badrihippo @praveen as for now, the only way i figured how to use it was to use the bank's provided proprietary implementation.

@kishy @badrihippo our ultimate goal here is to avoid using a proprietary app here. If we have a UPI app, that would be another option. I think is pretty close to achieving it.

@praveen for those coming upon this later: I created a new wiki page dedicated to different payment methods, and shifted the stuff there for now.

The page now redirects to one specifically about using (dialling *99# basically)
