The Google Summer of Code 2025 has ended for us at OpenPrinting, and it was the most successful one!

11 contributors did amazing work, and all of them successfully. Nobody failed this time.

And not only we liked the outcome, also our contributors loved working with us and most praised me and their mentors.

And we already have 17 candidates for next year ...

Thank you @till for mentoring new contributors to help fix the printer management panel in GNOME Settings!

That UI has been so frustratingly confusing and unreliable over the years that I had learned to ignore everything in there and use only the CUPS web interface, which is not something casual users should have to do 😅 the way (re)naming printers is handled is particularly problematic and probably related to the issue of duplicated printers I keep experiencing.
