Added a train route to #OpenStreetMap after a long time.

Started it yesterday during the OSM India Monthly Online Mapathon, spending 75 minutes during the mapathon, and then another 70 minutes in the evening.

(Changeset: 175627647) Train 22411 Arunachal Express: add route

Then started working on it again first thing today morning, spending another 2 hours.

(Changeset: 175646942) Train 22411 Arunachal Express: complete route between NJP and ANVT

My PT contributions aren’t what they once used to be, partly because it’s a royal PITA to map from a laptop when you don’t have a mouse…

But I also refuse to get a cheap unrepairable mouse which will break down and turn into #ewaste right after the warranty ends…

Wish I could afford a good repairable #trackball… 🤔

Please support my work on Liberapay - even $5/month would help a lot!

Screenshot of https://www.openstreetmap.org/relation/19930474 , notably showing the route relation for the Arunachal Express as an orange line that stretches across a swathe of North India, starting from Arunachal Pradesh in Northeast India and crossing West Bengal, Bihar, and Uttar Pradesh, before finally reaching Delhi.

@contrapunctus how do I add a train route on OSM?

@SpaciousCoder78 It’s a complex topic. Join us in a future remote mapathon, I’ll walk you through it. A useful homework you can do in the meantime is to record some GPS traces of any fixed public transport route not present on OSM - shared auto/rickshaw/taxis, buses, trains, etc.

@contrapunctus Sure, ill probably show up for the next mapathon, just ping me.
