Related fun(?) facts:

Apparently even extremely minor cat bites are infection prone.

I have a weirdly specific fear of hand/finger damage.

The NHS has a reassuringly terrifyingly thorough process for any hand injuries.

@jessie probably a good idea to get a tetanus shot. I was bitten by a cat when i was a kid and i somehow didnt turn into a catman...

@jessie This is why we’re asking you to be careful around foxes too…

@jessie Dunno really, in many years of getting bitten and scratched, I had to go to the hospital/ER only three times. (Each of those three times was while getting strays to the vet for neutering, which is a tough "use case".) And only two of those times I actually took the antibiotics they gave me. The third time my hand wasn't swelling up to the size of an orange, so there was no point. So I would say from my experience that statistically the risk isn't that big.

@betabug I am gonna go ahead and take the antibiotics as prescribed because I use my hand a lot and really like it.

@jessie Yes, hands are indeed useful occasionally.
