I have been struggling to get any work done today¹ and just realised that I forgot my ADHD meds this morning. :/

What a waste of a day.

@RaoOfPhysics Sending a hug if you’d like one. On some days it’s really best to just go to sleep early, I believe (for me it’s definitely one of those days)

@luce I skipped choir and am going to bed soon. <hug>

@RaoOfPhysics How does it feel when you get on meds? Does your head become quieter? I'm curious about how a less noisy and less impulsive head feels like

@SpaciousCoder78 It isn’t the same for two people. Since I have never had a particularly impulsive mind, what happens is that I am able to focus for long periods on a given task even if I don’t find it personally rewarding/appealing. I have to be careful what task I tie myself to because if it is the wrong one, I can hit Hyperfocus on something trivial and breaking out can be even harder than when I am not on meds.

@RaoOfPhysics do you also have this condition where you sit on a task A but you get reminded of task B 2 minutes into task A and then move onto task B and then you get the idea of Task C and do that? 30 mins in you do a bit of all 3 tasks

Is this what you mean by lack of focus? That's something I deal with everyday and I'm curious if medication could fix things.

@SpaciousCoder78 That sometimes happens. But the bigger issue I find is in getting started with any task that isn’t interesting to me. Lack of focus can manifest as being mentally absent in conversations while continuing to talk.

If you do have ADHD, it might manifest differently, and you may need to build up tools to deal with it in addition to any medication.
