Watching all the people out on the street making all this noise for Ganpathi Poojan…feel kinda sad. Religion is like this unstoppable force in India, impossible to criticize - lest you fancy being shot [1], or punished by courts for “hurting religious sentiments”.

Wish people would be this active and noisy for other things…public transport, poverty, privacy, media bias, the illiterate thugs running our country and stealing our taxes, the climate emergency…

But why do that, if you believe appeasing the gods will do everything?

@navi Haven’t really been following that. Of course, we have a huge bias in favor of Hinduism from bottom (the poorest) to top (every authority figure in every pillar of our “democracy”)…but I’m really questioning why “hurting religious sentiments” is a legally enshrined offence at all. It’s like having a law against “hurting a child’s fantasies”, or “hurting the MCU fanbase”. 😮‍💨
