@elmiko They are not the same, although they have similar ingredients. A pudding typically falls apart as you eat it. A cake is firm and holds its shape, and is typically covered in marzipan and icing.

@mattb @elmiko Pudding is served hot with brandy butter, cake is served cold. Pudding should contain suet, cake should not. Pudding is steamed, cake is baked.
