Sverige elects its next parliament on Sunday.

The last election put the far-right party—founded by actual neo-Nazis in 1988!—Sverigedemokraterna (SD) into power for the first time when the center-right parties broke a promise to a Holocaust survivor to never work with SD.

The last 4 years have been emotional hell for me and immigrant friends in Sverige.

The right-wing "Tidö party" coalition restricted immigration. Academics, entrepreneurs, children of immigrants, a famous drag queen, queers from bad countries have been deported/forced to leave.

@Jeremiah Urgh, the world is taking a hard turn for the worse. I wish there was something that could be done.

I will vote in Sverige’s national election for the first time as a new citizen on Sunday.

I love this country. I want to live and build the future from here. I bought a home and incorporated my company here.

Sverige leads the world in many ways and leaders can always do better.

@Jeremiah Välkommen, granne!

Hate has no place in the future.

The “paradox of tolerance” states that a tolerant society must be intolerant of intolerance to prevent undermining its own values.

SD can only do bad things in Riksdagen (parliament) if M, L, and KD (center-right parties) work with (tolerate) them.

I know many good Svenskar who have voted for center-right parties their whole lives.

But voting for M, L, KD in 2026 puts SD in power instead of relegating its hate to the fringe.

Voting for M, L, KD in 2026 means SD will be able to advance its hate-based agenda: anti-Muslim policies that also hurt all immigrants, restrictions on flying the Pride flag 🏳️‍🌈, reversing trans people’s legal gender recognition and access to healthcare.

Good people shouldn’t tolerate that.

Center-right posts seem to dominate my Instagram and Reddit feeds, so I made some images for Svenskar to consider sharing on their social media accounts to try to influence their center-right-leaning good friends to think twice.

The truth behind SD’s attempt to make its nationalistic hate more mainstream with a cute brand makeover is revealed when the wind blows against its blue anemone (blåsippa) flower.

Comparison of the official Sverigedemokraterna icon and logotype. The icon is a light blue flower with 6 petals blowing in a clockwise direction with a yellow center. The SDstika removes 2 petals and extends the 4 remaining petals into a swastika shape. Text: The anemone thriskolipsia. Genus: anemon. Species: bigotry

The far-right SD is the 2nd largest party currently in Riksdag.

Center-right parties kept SD from getting cabinet seats in 2022, but will welcome SD as a full Tidö coalition member if they win in 2026.

Eventually, SD will demand more power as the bloc’s most voted for party.

I do not believe most M, L, KD (center-right parties) voters are far-right sympathizers.

I want them to feel more discomfort from their parties’ willingness to work with SD. The association should evoke feelings of regret and shame enough to vote differently until their parties change.

@highvoltage I must remain a macro-optimist. My hope is that sharing my story and some dank ass memes as the youth say will help sway an election.
