@icedquinn @qorg11 @wetsocks Ya, I agree their approval process is a bit long. I try to help by reviewing other people's PRs on github even though Im not a core contributor.

All in all, the quality of packages in void-packages is way better than the aur as a result of the review process.

@wetsocks @qorg11 You can but the source package manager "xbps-src" is really easy to learn. If you can compile from source, you can compile using xbps-src. Furthermore, if you contribute your template to the void-packages repos, others can help improve your package and update your package. This is really helpful since void is rolling release and often a new libressl/openssl update requires a rebuild of all packages.

@qorg11 @ij Turns out, it's in the docs. My bad.

@qorg11 @ij Thanks, Ill try that in the morning.

@qorg11 @ij is it on a subdomain?

@qorg11 @ij Im using the python3+ flask version.

@ij Ya, Im a bit unsure how to follow those instructions....Im using http_upload_external. Any help?

@ij It's a mistake in my prosody config..... Ill fix it tom morning hehehe

@ij My friend tried siskin,it doesnt work with http upload....

What's the best ios XMPP client?

Might add "- sent via my pinephone using vis" to every text I send.

@mia @DefaultAlex @tk If you want to experience why debian packaging needs improvement - try to package a python package on debian then try on void/alpine/arch/gentoo.

I just end up using pip on debian. On other distros, I just make a package since it's so trivial and the installed program will always conform to my distro's standard practices.

See: https://drewdevault.com/2019/12/09/Developers-shouldnt-distribute.html

@mia @DefaultAlex @tk I maintain a number of packages for voidlinux and alpine linux. Both distros make packaging so unbelievably easy that a linux user somewhat used to compiling from source manually can figure out how to package within an afternoon.

I spent an entire weekend making a package for mobian (debian) and it still didnt work out. I had to send it to the mobian maintainer who was luckily able to still build off my work.

@redstarfish mu4e is the truth. It's hands down the best email client. It's the only one that allowed me to handle the firehose of information that is email.

Even still, the admin could change the source code of ejabberd or change the option to plain text.

The server software doesnt really matter. What matters is how much you trust the server operator. Regardless, OMEMO and choosing a server run by a community you trust to not hand out your metadata rather than a corporation should give you peace of mind.

The TA for a class I took is marking my lab report at 3:40 am on new years day and I keep getting notifications about it. Bless up bro.

I just checked prosody's documentation and it seems that you guys are correct:

https://prosody.im/doc/plain_or_hashed

I wonder if conversations/dino/gajim support SCRAM now. Regardless, you should always use a password manager. You can never trust the server operator even if they claim they use hashed passwords.
