@abloo I talked to @stacyharper on irc and she said it's doable! Cool idea =D
@abloo keyboard input from the onscreen keyboard? It should work as long as firefox is in focus. For convergence, it's a work in progress: https://todo.sr.ht/~mil/sxmo-tickets/264
@craftyguy fair enough
Cheers to Luis Falcon (founder of gnu solidario and author of gnu health) for daily driving sxmo! I love the idea of gnu health and health care is truly one place where software freedom needs to be absolute. Glad to see a fellow free software activist find use in our project to further the expansion of software freedom!

At this point, I put all my repos on sourcehut. If a project is on github, I will submit an issue but wont submit code unless it's a major issue for me.
Sourcehut is the ideal selfhosted solution if you dont want your users to be encumbered by making a new account:

Oh and I trust Drew to not do stuff like this https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=27724008
Sourcehut doesnt require your users to have an account to submit issues or patches. All you have to do is have an email account and send an email.

When compared to selfhosted gitlab/gitea/etc. it is ideal since it encourages decentralization while not having a cumbersome first time setup for selfhosted instances.
Oh, and it's 100% free software. No open core stuff.

re: opinion
@benjaminradio @hund Also, portage is amazing when it comes to giving good errors, telling you what useflags need to be changed, and general issue debugging.
re: opinion
@benjaminradio @hund By the way, on gentoo, you have profiles so most of the useflags would be set for you and your usecase. I found the default package settings to be very sane. The packages in gentoo are some of the best maintained packages.
Havent run into issues, I started using gentoo for the first time in January 2021.

@hund It's the battle of unsustainable tech. Do you think the flood of cheap computers from Windows 11 will outpace the demand created by cryptocurrencies?
Very cool article by Luis Falcon about the pinephone and what it means for mygnuhealth. Glad to see the pinephone is pushing other free software projects into new realms!

@jbauer @Angle Btw the performance on sxmo is fairly good. Re: battery life. I have to carry a battery bank if Im out for a long time but suspend support is improving. With sxmo, you wont get a notification while in suspend and have to reboot. Upstream is working on a fix but I just dont use crust for now.
@jbauer @Angle I am daily driving a pinephone! I didnt have alot of luck with phosh and plasma mobile but I enjoy using sxmo! https://sxmo.org/
If you are willing to hack a bit on the device to make it fit your needs, have reasonable expectations, and know what it's capable of, it's a good daily driver.

Daily reminder: it's immoral to NOT run adblock origin on every single computer you own.

@jakob @hexmasteen Thanks for the guidance guys! I didnt even know about nitrokey.
@colinl Clearly we need to start on our xmpp over ham radio project.
@jakob @hexmasteen
I just ordered a starter nitrokey. I did some research and found some stuff about yubikey I didnt like. Ill write a blog post about it when my nitrokey comes.
I realized I can use ssh via gpg and all my otp secrets are encrypted via gpg. I guess the totp wont be generated on the device which is kind of insecure but I have too many accounts that wont fit on the key anyways.
I wont be using FIDO2 for anything.
Excited to use it!
