@farooqkz If email is federated then paste.sr.ht is a federated alternative to github gist.

@g I self-learned how to self host OSS. The biggest advice I can give you is: use the stuff you selfhost and get others to use it. This can be hard considering you may not be able to make it reliable. However, you will run into bugs, run into issues when upgrading, and you will learn how the technical aspects work. You learn by fixing. If you want to run into more issues, test the master branch of a piece of software (ie. prosody). When you find a bug, submit a bug report and patch.

@RL_Dane 3. check out xtools by leah. I used that on void to automate alot of the stuff with xbps-src.

@RL_Dane

1. Is xbps-src like the AUR?

Similar to the AUR in that binary packages that void doesnt want to carry in the binary repos are available. All the package recipes are checked by the distro maintainers to ensure theyre up to par. This is unlike the AUR where arch maintainers dont really check the recipes. See discord:

https://github.com/void-linux/void-packages/blob/7a40c5d2d1e01a7403bfc41ceed40293be973c03/srcpkgs/discord/template

2. web search engine would be github

@JustineSmithies I would ask #postmarketos about fairphone 4. fairphone 4 sounds good cause it's repairable and unlocking the bootloader might be easier. I love my poco f1 - it's my daily driver. calls (except for dtmf tones. but a fix has been merged into modemmanager. it just has to be released), sms, and data all work. You can check out my blog for a review.

@martijnbraam

Thanks for clarifying heh. You're right

In my email on the mailing list, I clarified that the compiler backend used by hare (qbe) does not have 32-bit support. I thought anyone interested in fixing would read the mailing list post. Mastodon doesnt have enough characters and I was trying to make it look short and sweet.

Sxmo 1.11.0 required bonsai (written in hare) and when we were packaging for postmarketOS, we found out that hare had not been packaged for 32-bit architectures.

We just released Sxmo 1.11.1 to postmarketOS/alpine edge with a workaround for 32-bit architectures:

Please remember to review the Sxmo 1.11.0 release notes:

Thanks!

@panmaster I think the pinephone (not pro) kernel mainlining is not done.

@libreleah Can you please post the 3d models you used?

@SylvieLorxu I loved catima on android! Thank you for making it. It's unfortunate but the most entitled users are always the loudest. Sorry you have to deal with that and take care.

@outofcreativity my muc logs dont say anything useful =(

@outofcreativity i had the same issue. ill have to dig up the dino muc xmpp logs when i solved it but iirc, it was something to do with dns? I might be completely wrong.

I think switching networks mightve let me log in? Try that.

@colinl give me the link if you end up setting it up!

Alpine 3.16 is so nice. The Alpine team did an amazing job on this release.

@micke It might be easier to post links to the apps and people here can help you package.

@craftyguy Or better yet, the 1tb external fills up and I setup paid borg "host". Btw, this server is my "remote backup". I already have a local backup so thats why Im not too worried.

@craftyguy My question was more: "if you only had 2 drives and had to choose between raid or backup, what would you do?". I do have a 1 tb external hard drive. I can backup to that. I dont think Ill fill up the 4 tb anytime soon so I think putting it in raid and just buying an external hard drive later when the 1tb fills up. I bought 4 tb cause the price difference from 1 tb drives wasnt that large heh.

So i got my 2 hard drives for my nextcloud server. Should i go with raid or have my second hard drive borgbackup from my 1st drive?

@zachdecook alpine it is!
