This Saturday, @contrapunctus hosted a short workshop introducing at IIIT Lucknow, as part of the .

This workshop was made possible by a travel grant from @fossunited - thank you!

While the short allotted time of 30 minutes did not allow the participants to make too many edits, we would like to showcase the enthusiastic contributions of @niyabits - keep up the good work!

A screenshot of Achavi, showing changes made by niyabits. A yellow line runs down the middle of the map, showing a newly added bike lane. Multiple green lines extending from it show the roads connected to it, and 2 green circles show the roundabouts connected to it. A screenshot of Achavi, showing changes made by niyabits. Multiple yellow polygons in the Montfort College area show the buildings and ground that have been added. A yellow window-like shape shows the walking paths that have been added to a park. A little yellow line shows a pedestrian crossing added to a road, and the road itself is highlighted in green, showing that it has been moved slightly from its previous position in red.

This Sunday, had its first MapWalk. Unfortunately, it rained nearly the whole day, so whereas 8 people were expected, only 2 turned up - @contrapunctus and @niyabits .

But despite the low turnout and the rain, the two made significant improvements to the Hazratganj market.

Thank you to all who expressed interest, and we hope to see you in the future!

A screenshot of Achavi, showing changes as colored points, lines, and polygons on a darkened map.

These changes were made on Saturday evening after the OSM workshop and FOSS Meetup, as contrapunctus and niyabits surveyed the parks in the vicinity of Hazratganj market.

Most of the changes were made in Lakshman Park, near KD Singh Babu Stadium. A fuel station was added near its southeastern corner, and a gate was added near its western corner. To its west, the name and a gate were added for the Awadh Kunj Park. To its northwest, a point was added for Parivartan Chowk.

Within Lakshman Park, a cluster of yellow points and lines show the added entrance, walking paths, fountains, statues, and a cluster of benches.

Part of the park itself was split off to create the adjacent Raja Jai Lal Singh Park. A screenshot of Achavi, showing changes as colored points, lines, and polygons on a darkened map.

The main road of the Hazratganj market runs diagonally down the map, from the northwest to the southeast. It's highlighted in green because of changes to its geometry.

On the southwest side, the central building and its building parts have been added and are highlighted in yellow. Benches and bleachers around it have been added. These were part of the preparatory survey made on Saturday evening, with a focus on places where 8-10 people could be seated together.

To the northeast of the Hazratganj main road, two buildings, six building parts, and three corridors and colonnades were added, highlighted in yellow. These colonnades were crucial to permit mapping in the rain without getting wet. Points of interest were also added in these buildings, shown as circular yellow points.

The Le Press area - where the participants went for dinner afterwards - was added, and is shown as a yellow polygon. Other yellow polygons within it indicate the addition of a building, outdoor seating, restaurant, and a parking lot. Part of the road outside it has been converted to dual carriageway. There are two plates, each with green basil pesto pasta, half a cherry tomato, and toasted oregano bread.

There's also a mezze bowl, containing toasted pita bread cut into quarters, flatbread crackers, falafel, hummus, an orange condiment, a white slaw with pomogranate seeds, another whitish condiment, slices of orange, and leaves of lettuce. Selfie of niyabits and contrapunctus.

Niya is a fair transgender girl with long black hair tied back into a ponytail. She is wearing a black FOSS United T-shirt. The T-shirt has a graphic with two hands pointing at each other with their index fingers (similar to Michelangelo's fresco, "The Creation of Adam"), with the text "FOSS" shown between them. She is smiling at the camera.

contrapunctus is a person with messy black hair which is short at the sides and long at the top. They are wearing a grey OpenStreetMap India T-shirt, and a blue-grey 3M 6502QL elastomeric respirator with grey-and-purple 3M P100 7093 filter cartridges.

There is a plaster wall behind them with rounded-rectangular "windows" of different sizes, each containing a ceramic vessel, and a little light at the top.

A friend of mine knew someone and for now I have a room and now there a very friendly person that helps me and he is asking around for a room in a squat or something similar. So it is not super urgend anymore, but we are still om the lookout since I can only stay here for a couple of days.
Also we went to the doctors and it isnt that bad, just need to rest for a week and it should be okay and I think I can continue my trip within like 2 weeks maybe!

Okay longshot but here we go, Fedi please boost this through the roof:

Anyone on here living in lisbon amd willing to help me out for a couple of days?

I am on a hitchhiking trip, rolled my ankle and need a place to stay for a couple of days to see if it gets better because currently I definitily shouldn't walk. Even less so with 14Kg on my back haha.
So if you live here or know a person or something like that who would offer me shelter for a coupke of days that would be amazing!

Recomendations for cheap camping grounds or squats in or direclty around the area are welcome aswell <3

Thanks!

Let's neglect for a moment the -inspired racial hate that the movie '' is. The fact that it got any award, much less 2 would have been a laughable clownery, if it didn't represent the frighteningly blatant politicization of public instruments in pursuit of communal strife. I have seen better direction, cinematography and acting from amateurs on YouTube. This is a tight slap on India's rich cinematic legacy by philistine hatemongers.

A poster of the Nazi-style propaganda movie 'The Kerala Story'. It shows a row of 4 happy women above the title. Below the title are the same 4 women, but in Islamic garb and unhappy expressions.

I was walking today and saw a window cat. I started meowing at the window cat.

All of a sudden, the owner came to the window.

She started meowing back at me. Now two humans are meowing at each other while the cat is sitting there like "wtf is wrong with you two."

A meme with a scene from ratatouille, showing Anton Ego leaning forward with a serious and intimidating face.

The text says: I do not "miss social cues", I do not "have a problem with authority", I do not "need to learn how the world works". I ASK WHY. and if I don't get an answer, I don't DO IT.

Calling this one done. Was a a bit of fight at the end but I like how it turned out.

Leftist, anti-fascist activists have got to begin making more of an effort to educate themselves about the spyware capitalist tech that they insist on continuing to use. From Substack, gmail, twitter, facebook to youtube, etc. At least make the effort to use and encourage others to use the alternatives. Make an active effort to migrate away from the spyware to the free/libre alternatives that respect users, privacy and democracy. It's an UPGRADE.
