hello, UX designer. my name is Jigsaw. in this “saw trap” there is a wheel in front of you. your challenge is to leave the room without reinventing it. it works fine. it's a perfectly good wheel. the door is unlocked.

We’re so proud of everyone who built this union, and this win belongs to our whole community. We could not have done it without the solidarity of Wikimedia volunteers.
This is just the beginning. We stand with our UK siblings in their recognition process now, and with future organizing efforts across WMF’s global workforce. 🌍

This presentation aims to share why Debian is chosen by several entities to host their services. It intends to describe some aspects of syndicalism in France and make some parallel with the Debian project and its technical robustness.
It will share how activism led the speaker to Debian, how useful Debian has been for this purpose, and how Debian led them to activism again.

For english, I often fall into pitfalls of not knowing how to express myself correctly, its an eternal struggle, but to add, I have never personally felt if my grasp of a concept leaves wordless, that I can read someone else's translation and understand it better. If I am not sure my words are good enough, I cant really be certain a bot's are better for me.
LLMs likely write code much better and more efficiently than me, I waste hours on issues that LLMs could knock out in minutes really, but if they do, and I write code, even for personal fun accountable to no one, will I ever understand or be able to modify it? FOSS is for me knowing other people can write my code better, and allowing them to patch it <continued>

PIR (the .org registry) confirms it suspended the autistici.org domain name out of fear of the US legal threats, arguing it is "legally mandated to suspend it", which is not, IMHO, a given at all (given that PIR doesn't have any contractual relation with autistici directly, the registrar does). this is a very dangerous precedent that confirms a deeply rooted fear that the US essentially controls all of DNS.
if PIR's arguments are left standing, what's to keep the US from applying the same logic to ICANN and suspending an entire TLD?
