@slcw Why not just fly whichever flag you want and let others do whatever they like? Let people be individuals and stop making them conform to whatever your idea of what normal should look like.

@Ganneff There's good reasons why Incus exists!

If you support Israel's genocide in Gaza, you are no different than a Nazi. Absolutely no different at all, you're a scumbag and deserve anything bad that comes your way.

@mjg59 I think the answer has proven itself. Free software is the solution. If xz-utils were a piece of proprietary software, it would take much, much longer to have found this. Also, I shudder to think how much crap is shipped along with seemingly legit android apps out there, also why I refuse to log in to things like Debian's gitlab instance from my phone

@chu @LALegault yeah star trek had a huge influence on me and who I am as a person.

@cas I guess it depends what you consider a deadlines. Artificial deadlines are harmful and counter-productive. I try to focus on what's the most important thing(s) to do today. There will always be a backlog of stuff that needs to be done and it's enriching to get used to that idea. That's my 2c anyway.

@jwildeboer Absolutely. I marvel at the prompt and efficient response by everyone involved. In the proprietary software world there would still be denial that there even is a problem.

@hfalcke Spectacular.

@bagder pfft, what's the point of using C if you can't blame it for everything! :p

@BigAngBlack Please tell me about free, open source, decentralized VPN

@aral Definitely not first.

@LALegault I haven't been able to follow in recent days but yeah they definitely need proper representation. Not sure that too much should rest in South Africa, perhaps Ireland and other sympathetic countries too?

this is some 1820s science right here

What.

โ€œWe have discovered that hard, electrical conductors (e.g., metals or graphite) can be adhered to soft, aqueous materials (e.g., hydrogels, fruit, or animal tissue) without the use of an adhesive. The adhesion is induced by a low DC electric field.โ€œ

Most importantly: it stays stuck with the voltage turned off. Itโ€™s stable for MONTHS. Reverse the polarity of the electrical flow and it unsticks. YES REALLY. This is some literal โ€œAlessandro Volta playing around with bananas in a shedโ€ science AND YET it WORKS and we DID NOT KNOW.

Hereโ€™s a video. Holy shit. What.

@YouShallNotPass Spite just leads to more spite, it just leads to more pointless suffering of innocent people.

@YouShallNotPass There's no god, we're all we we are because of natural biological evolution by natural selection, and by that process some percentage of people will always be different in all kinds of different ways and everybody has to learn to accept that.

@LALegault I don't like TikTok, it has many problems, but the way that the American leaders describe it make me actually want to install it. TikTok couldn't wish for a better marketing campaign.

@splitbrain A company I worked for previously had a coding workshop for project managers where they had to write a simple program from a guide, and then again where they had to fix a bug in a program, they found it very enlightening!
