@eons @JamesWidman @mcc Personally I'm not concerned about my training data. I never liked the idea of twttr DMs and never used them. As for my own feed, it was mostly "Free software = good", ACAB, etc so let the bots feed on that if they want.

@mcc Valid point. In my case, years ago, I used to put my twttr handle on things like slides etc. And I'd rather have a "this isn't available" than have some of my old stuff link to someone elses stuff. Which, will probably eventually happen but hopefully X is properly dead by then.

@mcc I actually think it's better to keep your Twitter account. Make it private. Don't use it, don't engage, don't log on. But squat the username so that others can't use/abuse it.

@dansup If it helps, my dog had this too and it turned out to be nothing, and they surgically removed the lumps in 2018 and there were no after effects since.

@sidereal A group that I was a bit impressed by invited me to join them... but then I learned they co-ordinate purely on Discord and Trello and... yeah I haven't responded to them again.

@LALegault That is exactly the problem. They would rather give the country over to Trump than do what's right anyway. They are acting purely in the interest of their own short-term benefit, and at the same time they are saying "If you don't vote for us, it's YOU who are bad because your'
re enabling Trump", but in reality, Biden is a total an utter failure. He vowed to bring decency to the White House. Many didn't particularly like him, but believed him on that at least.

DEF CON 32: A talk by a shadow librarian that will get you excited about libraries again (can't say that I 100% agree with everything he says, but still a nice talk): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IJT6_OcY_dc #defcon32 #libraries

@bagder @mynacol Yeah I use lots of small computers where it's a different ballpark than a typical modern laptop, but, at least I'd just use the Debian packages on those so I think few people who use these small devices consume the upstream tarball directly anyway.

UN: The deliberate killing of a journalist is a war crime, and out of the hundreds of journalists murders in Gaza, not a single one have been properly investigated or prosecuted: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KheCFH9R6DM

@bagder @mynacol Yeah but zstd decompresses *significantly* faster, which is nice for everyone

Your silence = death

Why do people keep repeating the lies that Meta's Llama is Open Source when it absolutely and clearly is not?

Sabine saying it like it is on string theory as it relates to theoretical physics: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cBIvSGLkwJY

@LALegault You and the world. And it's a no-go to vote for Harris for a significant amount of Americans as long as the democratic party not only allows this, but actively participates in it, so... I don't know what we can say the world is probably in for turmoil we'd never imagine we'd see in our lifetimes.

@LALegault Again, I'm not defending Elon, but I couldn't find any evidence that he ever gained or inherited any significant amount of money from his father, so if you have sources to back what you're saying, I'd appreciate it.

@LALegault Yep, no doubt he's getting filthy richer off of tax dollars on this, but he did do a lot of initial spacex work with his own money. Not that I want to defend him either *puke*.

@LALegault I'll admit when I saw the recent rocket landing, I was a bit in awe of it, it's a really huge technical achievement. I don't think anyone can deny that. However, it's made possible by the huge amounts of cash Elon threw at it, in order to hire top engineers from all over the world. It's certainly not his genius or big brain that's responsible for it, a delineation that some people can't manage to make.

@mjg59 Don't worry, when I dream about being a lawyer again, I'll represent you and we'll win.

re: doomer kids (long, rambly)
@elilla Instead, my generation got saddled with student debt and medical bills. And leadership? It's effectively the SAME harmful people who are busy destroying the world not only since we've been kids, but pretty much since we're born. Half of us are angry, and want change. Half of us have turned into their parents, who want things to go back to "the good old days" not really having much comprehension about the world.
