@zhenech ah perfect. Thank you!

Started reading Clifford Simak’s City #scifi classic. A particularly handsome SFBC hardback

@sortova @Conan_Kudo @jzb @popey that whole anti-mono period was a really dark time

My kids have named it “Vera the vacuum”

I recently “solved” this for my personal mail by buying in Mythic Beasts as a provider. But I haven’t sorted out sending at Debian.org yet so I get lots of mail rejections from Google to my Debian emails, including to mailing lists I think.

Please, boycott Google's email service Gmail. Here is why you should do so:

They are considering almost all small email servers as spam, this mean Google users have to look in their spam folder when they receive email from someone considered small. This kills freedom.

On top of that, gmail addresses are the biggest source of spam around nowadays, isn't it sarcastic?

There are a few good email provider around that are free, some other are paid but really cheap. If something is free, you should ask yourself how they make money.

This is an interesting point. I hadn’t factored in inflation in my thinking https://mastodon.social/@geerlingguy/112990731064936783

@InterzoneMag this art from 294 would (I think) translate really well to colour eink’s limitations; other art not so much!

@InterzoneMag so I guess as always, the fiction is the key thing

@InterzoneMag and some of the really cool tricks were things like subtle pagination tweaks or page setting(thinking of a Cécile Cristofafi story I think) that are likely unrepeatable in epub due to technical limitations, colour or not!

@InterzoneMag (sorry this is a really drawn out convo. I’m existing in a weird time frame at the moment)
I think ultimately the colour e-reader stuff is a bit of a gimmick. Thinking back to my historic interzone reading, the stuff which would potentially look good would be full colour interstitial art; but, when it comes to memorable stories, for me, I can’t recall the art. And I read plenty of amazing stories in BW.

How my “negative pressure therapy” machine makes me feel
Still from the movie ExistenZ, with the protagonists prone on a bed plugged into the bio mechanical game

I saw this article hinting at a Mozilla logo rebrand and my immediate thought was how much that must have cost https://www.omgubuntu.co.uk/2024/08/mozilla-new-logo

@tomncooper thanks!

@jwildeboer probably both tbh. I feel the same

New blog post: “ouch, https://jmtd.net/log/ouch/2/

@simon I was about to suggest that we’ve all got a one way ticket 50 years into the future, if we just wait, but that supposes we survive another 50 years.

@fraggle I’m having a spot of health trouble atm (exotic Infection from holiday abroad) but otherwise stuff is good.

@InterzoneMag it’s definitely not as bold as print, but I do wonder how good IZ artwork would look on this
