@mjg59 @dj @FetidTrash … Matt how is your timeline this bad idk

So far I’m disappointed with Gitea 😢

@patrickmcurry Slade, for doom WAD files. Quake’s WAD files aren’t the same. I don’t know if Slade handles quake’s, sorry

Has fosstodon dropped their requirement to toot in English?

@neil @Tattooed_Mummy I’ve only seen the payment stuff if I’ve done a domain search; I haven’t had a breach alert for a while now (May it seems)

@neil @Tattooed_Mummy I was doing it before HIBP, and they originally didn’t limit domain reports this way, it came in relatively recently: so I was caught by surprise. Can’t really do anything about it now

@neil @Tattooed_Mummy I do this, but haveibeenpwned’s pricing strategy thwarts it: each unique address is a “user” from their POV, so I can’t get a free report anymore, and pricing for “600 users” is not affordable for what is really one user

Is anyone aware of any aggregated stats on when most school holidays across the UK occur?

I think I’ll switch to the container. It’s basically the same size anyway, and I’m already managing containers.

These days, Stack Overflow is only slightly better than Fandom (urgh) for egregious pop ups

@maralorn @mart_w were any of your self-written front ends published?

I started installing gitea, opted to apply all the systemd restrictions you can to it then got bored punching the necessary holes for it to actually function

@rivets total agreement there

My old gogs binary is 32M. Gitea is 132M!

@ilmari it's one of the race-names in No Man's Sky. Another is gek, and gek.space is available… for £123.29/year 😲

LLM that predicts frames for the game Doom: you can “play” it

https://gamengen.github.io/

If the LLM started hallucinating it would potentially be really interesting: the rules of engagement you understand as a player breaking down

Could blend well with Doom’s nightmare aesthetic

@rivets can you think of good examples of CS books that have stood the test of time? Knuth’s don’t count since nobody reads them. I think maybe pragmatic programmer, that MS one (code complete?); K&R C; the Steven’s book? Dragon book or surely there’s modern innovations in that space since; design patterns or is that anathema now? SICP

@rivets I find it really hard to consume video content. I keep planning to look at auto screenshot/transcribe services (I posit they exist) but haven’t got around to it. Perhaps a valid application of LLMs! Bonus points if they could skip over sponsored content.

I’d have gone for korvax.space

Happy to discover there’s a Mastodon instance for No Man’s Sky fans! They missed a trick not using the `.space` TLD though https://nomanssky.social/@nmscord
