Erst wenn Ihr den letzten Arbeitsschutz-, Brandschutz- und Datenschutzbeauftragten durch „Entbürokratisierung“ abgeschafft habt, werdet Ihr feststellen, dass die Dinge von allein nicht besser werden

DW's German course has this incredibly authentic moment where the main character says something like "I have recently moved to Germany" and this German lady goes "But why??"

The proper way to drink whiskey - and live.

Columbo looks at a computer and says: "I don't even use computers."

Thread (ten posts) making a convincing case for Ukraine winning the war in the next 3-6 months due to an accelerating Russian collapse, caused by … well, that'd be a spoiler.

Go read.

This, happening within months of the AI bubble bursting and taking down the US stock market, is going to make 2025 the pivotal year of the decade. (Forget Trump, he's a side-show.)

German trains so slow, you gotta take chicken with you to survive the arduous journey.

I recently found a photo I took during the height of COVID that, in retrospect, wonderfully encapsulated our failure as a species.

A pickup line with clearly marked places for people to stand to keep social distancing. An unmasked man is standing incredibly close behind the person in front of him instead. He is wearing a COVID-19 Compliance Officer vest while clearly failing to comply with even the most basic of processes.

i3 has this feature, where if it crashes (due to a memory corruption or something), it shows a dialog, allowing you to (among other things) restart it in-place. Which lets you keep all your state, your applications keep running, your window and workspace configuration stays the same…

In any case, I really wish the sway people had taken more from how @zekjur did things. Incredibly frustrated right now, because something about my home setup seems to make sway crash unpredictably.

Today is the day  Mr. Hummelgaard wanted to push through a vote on Chat Control in the EU Council. But he failed! 🎉

However, Chat Control will be back, so let's look at what this law means for everyone, not just here in Europe:

is nothing but a Trojan Horse for citizens and businesses in Europe. Why?

Trojan horse labeled with "Protect Children" while "Mass Surveillance" sits inside and the "EU Member States" welcome it through the gate.

Anyone got a good style guide for the use of global, local or hierarchical labels in KiCAD?

I've split a schematic into parts, but I'm not quite sure what scoping rules to apply and, e.g. if using some global labels as interfaces, should they be used everywhere or connected to local symbols?

That kind of thing.

I might now be officially old™ by stating this, but holy hell, does cooking with an induction plate make more fun. No more waiting 15 minutes for noodles to be done.
