TIL dark reader is also available for #Thunderbird. This made my life so much better. TILA you can set the message body to show only plain text loading mails way faster. If there is a mail that doesn't render properly you can use the show html extension to display it with HTML enabled.

@RickRae thanks, that's what show html does. Paired with a gruvbox theme this reduces eyestrain a lot.
