@brainblasted Here's a TL;DR. Wordpress's trademark policy prohibited the use of "Wordpress" in plugin names and companies who build products on it, but allowed WP in their trademark policy. WP Engine, one of these plugins, became extremely successful to the point where they started to make more money than Wordpress. So, Wordpress started to try to extort money out of them and quitely removed the WP clause from their trademark policy and accused WP Engine of confusing users...

@brainblasted And they were caught doing that, with the CEO sending some of the "or else" messages from his own phone and mail, and things are basically escalating from there.
