It is 2024 and people still use Parted to partition disks. Please stop. Use gdisk or other GPT native tool.

Parted has no idea what GPT partition type is. Instead it shows mess like 'boot_grub', 'esp', 'lvm'. Or just nothing.

It was good 20 years ago. Maybe "tolerated" 10 years ago.

@hrw any gui tools you recommend?

@deshipu When it comes to GUI tools for partitioning I used two:

- KPartitionManager
- GNOME Disks

KPM allowed me to resize/move partitions as it uses cli tools to do the magic.

Disks one I keep only for it's benchmarking option.

Normally I use gdisk. Has all I need and expert/transform functions are nice there.

@hrw can we while at it also stop talking about gdisk now that (c)fdisk has GPT support (since many years)?

@ah Both fdisk and gdisk have a use.

I learnt gdisk long time ago and its expert/transformation commands allowed me to do things fdisk did not had. Never had a need to go back to fdisk.

Spent some time around sfdisk. It was both sick and fun.
