HOW?!

@zhenech /etc/hosts comes to mind, if nothing else. Also, nsswitch.conf in general. 🙃

Magic.

@zhenech systemd considers resolv.conf legacy and uses a module in nsswitch -- which was already mentioned in the thread, I found this very nice article recently explaining some details I didn't knew -- https://jpetazzo.github.io/2024/05/12/understanding-kubernetes-dns-hostnetwork-dnspolicy-dnsconfigforming/

@stdevel jūni = 12 auf Japanisch :)

@zhenech Oh, das ist eine schöne Referenz. :)

@stdevel das namensschema ist grob "kurze japanische woerter die irgendwie related zum geraet sind".

Vorgänger war tanso (炭素) was… Carbon ist.

@zhenech Cool, das gefällt mir 🙂

Wie hießen deine vorherigen ThinkPads?

@stdevel Funny that you ask…

- T480s - yatsu (八), means 8, as it's a T4*8*0s
- X201s - nana (七), means 7, as it was my first i*7* CPU
- X61t - obon (御盆), means tray, which in German is "Tablett" and is close to "tablet"
- X300 - atae (与え) means gift, as it was given to me at a very low price, almost a gift

- X31 - chiisai (小さい) means small, my first X series
- X220 - rodo (労働) means work, my first work laptop
- Z61m - shinkupaddo (シンクパッド) means Thinkpad, my first Thinkpad

@stdevel Oh, and I have a thinkstation…

- P410 - kangae (考え), means thinking, and well, it's a Thinkstation

@zhenech This is lovely 🥰

@zhenech I really like ippai and shokki 🙂

@zhenech @stdevel Mine are:
天使 (tenshi, "angel") my main PC
蔵 (kura, "storehouse") my NAS unit
声 (koe, "voice") my iPhone
鯉 (koi, "carp") my old iPhone, used as an iPod
巻 (maki, "scroll") my iPad
旅行 (ryokou, "travel") my 2017 MacBook
音 (oto, "sound") my 2003 PowerMac G5 digital audio workstation
記憶 (kioku, "memory") my 2012 MacBook
曲 (kyoku, "song") my 2014 Dell laptop
白の神 (shiro-no-kami, "white god", a pun on 白の紙 shiro no kami, "white paper") my 2012 Kindle Paperwhite

@zhenech @stdevel Go on, tell me more about the X61t. Does it have the 1024x768TN display or the better ones? Have you modernized it at all?

@jmtd @stdevel It of course has the 1400x1050 screen, but the glue dissolved by now and is all over the place :/

@jmtd @stdevel And no, I've not touched/modernized it at all in the last 10+ years. It was mostly bought to read/write university stuff with a pen.

@zhenech @stdevel I've always wanted to explore that stuff. I have a ThinkPad Yoga 260 which I might play with once I submit

@jmtd @stdevel my wife has a yoga (or a 2-in-1? idk, the current Lenovo naming is confusing) and is rather happy with it. https://xournalpp.github.io/ is good too.

@zhenech @jmtd @stdevel Xournal is a very good choice, also use it quite often.

Also, the Yoga 260 has a lovely form factor. :)
