@jmtd On every one of your posts I get an "Translate" link underneath. It doesn't happen for others (and obviously your posts are in UK-English!). Do you know if that's something specific to the debian Mastodon instance?

@jmtd It's javascript magic but when you expand it it shows as being translated by "DeepL.com"
It's not visible on the web at https://pleroma.debian.social/jmtd but is on
https://fosstodon.org/@jmtd@pleroma.debian.social suggesting it's some metadata that goes into your posts 🤷
@jmtd the posts received from your instance have a language:null
attribute, where a Mastodon instance would expect a valid language code (presumably `language:EN? I couldn't figure out the ISO 639 code for Geordie 😁).
This is the attribute that @sxa 's client use to generate a link to a translation service (incorrectly IMO, as it should sanity check the provided language code instead of just assuming that a value different from the current locale is enough, but anyways...)
