Yet another failing cable. Lovely. Replacing these things is getting expensive, not to mention all the e-waste.

I've also seen a phone become unusable, and all stored data lost, when its charging port failed from mechanical wear.

Should I get an for my ? It's a 6.

Comments appreciated!

@argv_minus_one I have the exact same problem with my Pixel 6; the connector wears out and is loose, so I have to play with the connection to get it to charge. I just bought a wireless charger so I won't be stuck without a phone since I don't have any old backup phone laying around.

@argv_minus_one my general perspective has been to use wireless charging to prolong the life of the phone port, but I wonder about the relative cost difference from the less efficient charging and if that’s enough to offset phone life by some amount

@argv_minus_one if you're going to get one, get a good one. my experience with a cheap one was... dissatisfying...

@pavsmith

What happened?

@argv_minus_one it charged more slowly than continental drift. it wasn't replicated on the chargers of others that i "borrowed". i never got around to buying a replacement.
