Presenting my lecture slides on the RK3588 MNT Pocket Reform beats having to carry the 17 inch Thinkpad from my employer around with me in my backpack (long-ish commute by bike and train).

A purple MNT Pocket Reform mini laptop in an empty lecture hall, showing lecture slides on its screen. It is charging via USB-C, is connected to the projector via HDMI and has a few USB devices connected via a USB-C hub.

@josch nice setup!

@werdahias Uh hai I meant talking to you -- I saw that you recently sponsored the upload of openrgb to unstable. Thank you for that! I have that creating funny rainbow effects on my classic Reform keyboard. Will let you know once I have a video to share. :)

@josch yeah no worries :) recently I was more succesful getting new contributors to work on packages for Debian. I also probably should maintain less...

@josch Bike/train commute is exactly why I carry my Pocket Reform around too :) I need my work laptop with me too on those days, and it saves me from having to carry around two full-size laptops if I want a non-work device with me

@josch ZOMG that thing looks so awesome, and then I looked at the price.

@jfred @josch Is the Pocket Reform really so much lighter? It does look cute, but pretty chonky.

@monospace @jfred https://shop.mntre.com/products/mnt-pocket-reform says 1.1 kg still lighter than my thinkpad and definitely smaller.

@josch whoa that looks amazing, i love tiny computers

@kirakira Let me pass that compliment on to @mntmn and the team at MNT Research who designed this beauty. ❤️

@josch @monospace It definitely depends on what you're comparing it to, yeah. It feels heavy in the hand because of how small it is length/width-wise (so it's more dense), but looking up some specs its weight is actually close to most models of the X1 Carbon which I'd consider an ultralight

And my backpacks typically only have one laptop pocket + my work laptop is large enough to fully fill it out, so fitting two full size laptops in a bag can be tricky even ignoring weight

@josch it's so small..
why would you want that?
give it to me blobcatevil
