@neil "to make things simpler".

@neil I guess it’ll help stop people setting up a company with “Mr A Hitler” and “Mr D Duck” as directors before applying for a Covid small business loan.

@neil But but but it's "to make things simpler for companies and business owners."
Policy by the Wolf in Red Riding Hood.

"We estimate that 6 to 7 million individuals will need to verify their identity by mid-November 2026."

That's a lot of individuals!

@neil

@neil I suggest everyone uses the Post Office option. It doesn’t cost anything yet the gov pays the postmaster for every single check

@neil can directors just use a VPN to get around it 🥁

@neil From what I now have read, my accountant (as an ACSP) should be able to do this for me. They need to be one anyway, as they file for me.

@tommorris @neil I wish they would stop instances where there are 300 companies registered to the same address. It's clear that if anyone ever needs to take any enforcement action against a company, the registered address is going to be of no use in those cases.

@neil @steve @tommorris and more importantly once the notice is delivered to the registered address it is considered served even if whoever is at that address throws it in the bin

Tbh it's a very valuable service if you're a small business owner who wants to preserve their privacy

@neil @erincandescent @tommorris TBH I'm pretty on the fence about preserving privacy whilst taking advantage of the Limited Company protections.

@neil seems reasonable. Doesn't stop requiring Id for porn being a ticking time bomb...

@neil Finally - only >150 years too late. (Having had to track down a fake company registered at our address)
