I have a display which does 4k@60 for displayport input but only 30Hz for HDMI input. How likely is it I can hack things somehow to get 60Hz for the HDMI inputs?

@jmtd this sounds like the HDMI controller on your display only supports an older version of the hdmi spec (1.4?), even though the panel itself supports 4k@60hz.
Unless it is just because you are using an old cable, I don't think there is much you can do aside from using some device that can take HDMI 2.x as an input and output DP, like a docking station of some sort.

This is a function of the supported HDMI version (and corresponding data rate capabilities) at both ends. 4k30 implies HDMI 1.3 or 1.4, you need hardware which can drive HDMI 2.0 for 4k60.
