Holidays activity: home-studio wiring, episode 78...

"This will be the last time I ever have to do it all over again" 😉

An open cardboard box containing lots of cables lies on the floor, with a few more cables next to it. Behind the box are a few amplifiers and pedalboards, and on the right one can see a drummer's seat and a hi-hat + kick drum pedals.

As usual with complex(ish) audio setups, a fair share of cable length adjustment is needed, requiring a bit of soldering...

A jack connector is being soldered onto a cable; the connector is plugged into a black box, a soldering iron is visible in the background.

@awai nice, is that a Pinecil?

@werdahias It is indeed, powered by a 120W PinePower ;)

@awai how is it like? I have an old, crusty Weller Station at home. What's the temperature control and heat distribution like?

@awai last time I spend an entire day making small 1 meter patch cables for my patch bay :D

@werdahias It works really well and is my go-to for cable soldering & small PCBs (through-hole components only). I have a whole bunch of tips so I can select the one with the best heat distribution for the work on hand.

For more "heavy" work I still rely on my Hakko station though, as temperature is more stable there and it is generally better IMHO.

@martijnbraam Hehe, sounds familiar ;)

@awai thnks, am considering to buy one.
