Train journey to Bangalore! 33 hour long journey to go! <I think ive called it a 44 hour journey sever times now>, actually have a project I want to work on in mind, oooo, software development!

@disaster2life Wow 33 hour long! Hope you enjoy your trip!

@disaster2life jeez. Don’t know how people manage train journeys for that long. An 8 hour journey alone was enough for me to reconsider trains, can’t fathom how you guys do 33 hours.

@SpaciousCoder78 i love trains is the problem, also I hate trains. Its a complicated relationship.

@billchenchina 2 hours in, its been pretty okay, have a really chatty person next to me though :(

@billchenchina @disaster2life I'm starting a 24 hour train to Bangalore soon

@praveen oh great! see you soon again praveen!

@praveen @billchenchina @disaster2life me finished 1h of 17 hours

@libreinator @billchenchina @praveen 19 hours into the 33(likely longer given how long we are running) journey I think, /me is tired and is thankfully taking an emotional and social break

@disaster2life @billchenchina @libreinator @praveen safe journey, everyone!

My 5½ hour journey seems super short now (too short to even get a proper sleep 😛)

@badrihippo @libreinator @praveen I am jealous, but mostly not! enjoy your nap!

@disaster2life @libreinator @praveen hehe thanks! I needed all the rest I could get because you know how hectic our schedule is about to be. Doesn't help that I'm staying over an hour from the venue 😛

@badrihippo @libreinator @praveen oh yikes! doesnt sound fun, I picked a location right near rlthe venue because I knew i would die of exhaustion otherwise

@disaster2life @badrihippo @praveen near the venue? we might be on the same place. if you see anyone knocking on random rooms and shouting IndiaFOSS and then running away that'd be me

@libreinator @badrihippo @praveen thatd be cool though there seem to be like a wackton of hotels here!

rant
@disaster2life @badrihippo @praveen our hotel didn't allow us to check-in cause roommates who aren't relatives are by law of negation unmarried couples and illegal under the Great Indian Culture™. I won't name the place, but Sapphire Inn lost two customers

re: rant, bullshit social policies, moral policing
@libreinator @badrihippo @praveen its utter bullshit how it works, thankfully me and my roommate both happen to be identified by the government as men, so we could just be rommates, but fuck you if you are friends with the opposite gender, like jesus fuck its archaic and I hate all of it.

re: rant, bullshit social policies, moral policing
@disaster2life @libreinator @badrihippo @praveen the extreme gender segregation in India is something that I’ll never get over. Most guys in my college don’t know how to talk to women and often objectify them because they don’t know that they’re humans because they never interacted much with them.

re: rant, bullshit social policies, moral policing

@SpaciousCoder78 @libreinator @disaster2life @praveen it's astounding how people accept this separation even though they'd hardly think it sane to have rules disallowing, say, iPhone and Android users from occupying the same space

(Bonus points if you use or )

re: rant, bullshit social policies, moral policing

@SpaciousCoder78 @libreinator @disaster2life @praveen I run into this a lot because society decided to file a lot of my friends into a different gender from mine

@badrihippo @billchenchina @libreinator return journey turned out to be much longer, train diverted due to floods and it is 23+19 hours late and still on the way! So I have longer train than @disaster2life now!

@praveen @badrihippo @billchenchina @libreinator oh wow euuuuf, that SUUUCKKKS, hope it wasnt too exhausting!

@disaster2life @billchenchina @libreinator @badrihippo it was ok, except for getting food on time and bit of frustration when they stop us, but let other trains pass. This train did not have a pantry car and this route via Bidar only had small stations. I had to just have peanuts and chikki for breakfast. But lukily dinner and lunch was fine. Apparently if your train is late, you get the last priority as they want to keep all other trains on time. @abhijith did you reach on time?

@disaster2life @billchenchina @libreinator @badrihippo @abhijith eventually I reached 22 hours late, so 45 hours overall. On the bright side this opened up a chance for people to talk to more people. People were forced to ask others for updates and share what they gatheted. There was one guy going to Pune for his engagement, luckily he reached before time. He observed me talking on phone in Malayalam and said hi to me. Got a cold just before boarding so that added to the frustration.
