re: Over heard

@disaster2life @keouck @lunarequest It's actually a good question, but I have felt that this place is so far removed from day to day people that I am around that this strange combination is new to me

re: Over heard
@sounddrill @keouck @lunarequest I think I know what you mean by "far removed from day to day people" but id say you just gotta find the right people? theres loads of cool people on fedi, I mostly just follow my friends and theyre all just people

re: Over heard
@disaster2life @sounddrill @keouck I think its more at time fedi can feel very western centric, so to hear a joke that's very "Indian" in a way can feel unusual.

re: Over heard

@lunarequest @disaster2life @keouck That is actually very well put! Exactly what I was trying to say, thanks

The people that surround me are more normie-ish, giving me a strange look when they find out I don't scroll through Indian instagram reels(my feed is mostly tech or electronics) or have a snapchat

re: Over heard
@sounddrill @lunarequest @keouck maybe? I struggle hard with my Indian identity and Indian-ness, so probably not the person who read this correctly, so I guess I read that wrong.

re: Over heard

@disaster2life @keouck @lunarequest I can relate so hard to that

I struggle with the local state language and culture quite a bit

re: Over heard
@sounddrill @keouck @lunarequest I grew up learning English better than Hindi in the Hindi belt part of the country, growing up on American and British humour shows on the TV in the books, and in music, but a lot of it was non mainstream stuff or just my preferences were, now I do not know who I related to or who I find to be my people past a very wide definition of it.

Community is hard :/

re: Over heard
@disaster2life @sounddrill @keouck @lunarequest glad Iโ€™m not the only one with very low levels of Indian-ness
