If someone is looking at hosting a project to mirror here in India, LibreOffice is a good candidate.
Right now, we have 5 LibreOffice/TDF (The Document Foundation) mirrors https://download.documentfoundation.org/mirmon/#in . Each mirror is on average serving 400 GB/day of traffic (see https://mirrors.in.sahilister.net/stats/tdf.html), which is on higher side, hence potential to onboard more mirrors.
HowTo can be found here https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Infra/Mirroring#Example_commands . Let me know if you need help setting a mirror up.
@sahil We could look at running one if you think one of the typical cloud VM providers are a reasonable home. Will put this on our todo list.
@jtk that would be great, thanks!
By rough calculation, 10 TB/month bandwidth would be required atleast.
Contabo (VPS - 32 TB/month) and OVH (dedicated range - 25 TB/month) give ample b/w in Mumbai, India location.
I use Contabo for my India mirror nodes.
@sahil I just need to invest in getting my homelab up, just need to buy a domain and setup DDNS now, just

@sahil how much cost per month am I looking at if I want to host a mirror for a different project (a linux distro), assuming the storage is somewhat lesser than 1TB for now?
@ayushnix Assuming:
- traffic less than 1 TB/day and 600 Mbps is fine
- cheaper option
You're looking at EUR 17.90 to 20.70 (basis contract terms) at https://contabo.com/en/storage-vps/storage-vps-30/?addons=1999&image=ubuntu.332&qty=1&contract=12 at the IN location.
@ayushnix Fair warning, with their Storage VPS you might end up with a noisy neighbor (which can lead to higher latency).
Had to change nodes a few times for my mirror and then finally moved to their Cloud VPS instead. YMMV.
@sahil that's too expensive for me 😅, I was considering hosting a mirror if it costs less than or equal to $5/month
@ayushnix what linux distro are you looking at, if I may ask
