@gamingonlinux at least Vivaldi is still saying no to AI. I hope it stays that way.

@gamingonlinux this was probably written by a bot too lol

@gamingonlinux AI at the heart of technology and tools? WHAT IS GOING ON???

@gamingonlinux lol so tone-deaf. 🤦‍♀️

@gamingonlinux "AI isn't just another tech trend" yeah I don't think I need to read any further blobcat

@gamingonlinux I really hope either an alternative browser that's fully standard compliant shows up, or at least that a big enough org. to maintain it actually forks firefox and keep it clean.
Building and maintaining a modern browser is a daunting task, and Mozilla *clearly* can't be trusted for staying in its lane.
If they kept all their AI craze in an actual separate product, I wouldn't mind them looking into it. But Firefox is too important for them to keep messing up.

@gamingonlinux

Twenty five years ago, Microsoft Internet Explorer had 95% browser market share — controlling how most people saw the internet, and who could build what and on what terms. Mozilla was born to change this.

yep Mozilla see you when you get back to upholding that mission

@gamingonlinux I really can't decide if @mozilla is naive or stupid.

Either way they are fast losing the support of the community that has stuck by them through thick and thin.

@gamingonlinux "Mozilla has always been focused on making the internet a better place. Which is why pushing AI in a different direction than it’s currently headed is the core focus of our strategy right now." Mozilla has what, 4% of browser share if that? Pick a struggle lmao

@gamingonlinux what other browsers would work out if firefox doesnt work anymore?

@gamingonlinux "AI isn’t just another tech trend — it’s at the heart of most (hated) apps"

@gamingonlinux I'm curious to see what financial statements come out of Mozilla in the next year or so.

These tech companies tend to promote AI when they've invested a lot of money in to AI and subsequently want return on that investment. So far, a lot of that return has been attempting to sell to the public, or forcing and measuring its use internally.

@gamingonlinux We don't want AI, we just want a browser that displays web pages and supports extensions. Is that too much to ask?

@gamingonlinux Holy em dashes, Batman

@gamingonlinux The article talks about pushing AI in a trajectory that benefits humanity.

IMO, one of the only trajectories that AI could be pushed in that benefits humanity would be in assistive technologies for people with disabilities.

@gamingonlinux “delightful as they add AI”

Sorry, but I cannot think of a single addition of AI in any tool I’d call delightful.

@gamingonlinux they really want me to switch browsers away from Firefox, huh?

@gamingonlinux would be funny if this meant they will be slowly killing AI like they are slowly killing their web browser!
