honestly at this point, i am of the opinion that your game just does not exist if you are a non-indie studio and it is not on steam
this is mostly because:
- i don't want to deal with multiple game launcher apps
- i can install steam on alpine through flatpak
- steam makes basically all windows games that i care about "just work" on my machine through proton
since someone is assuredly going to say "but steam flatpak doesn't work with nvidia drivers" or something, i will point out that i am using an AMD card and none of these proprietary drivers work on alpine anyway
@ariadne
Speaking of it, what's the state with intel Arc GPUs on Alpine (definitely not asking because I've a B570 sitting on my desk at home and a A380 in my server right now).
Also have you seen anything related to the supposedly soon to be shipped (early 2026) "all China" GPUs?
@agowa338 intel GPUs should work just fine on alpine, but i don't have any.
as for the loongson and huawei GPUs, i am patiently waiting to see if i can acquire one of each. maybe next time i am in shenzhen, i will go looking...
@agowa338 with that said, Loongson claim the 9A2000 series GPU will "have performance similar to RTX 2080", which both seems like a realistic target, but also something I think they will underdeliver on.
however... the 3a6000 SoC was better than I was expecting IPC-wise! if only they could get the clock speeds to back it up...
@ariadne since Blizzard must force their โinstalled a reforged game means we remove the original and mess all your profile and features for it using the Battle.net clientโ this can never happen through steam. I just install the original ones with wine as they do not depend on phoning home, suggesting to install the original is not an answer for your reforged question but its either that or use lutris battle.net to be able to install reforged
@ariadne
Excepting of course open source games working on more than one arch
@RustedComputing i am clearly talking about commercial games from commercial companies here
@ariadne or the diablo 2 remaster either, in spite of having diablo 4. :/
You are not wrong. Part of this is because Keith Packard spent a few years at Intel teaching corporate structures how you upstream a driver for Linux into X11 (at the time) and Mesa:
