It can be hard to imagine how to defend oneself against an overwhelming force like ICE. But a few enterprising hackers have started projects to do counter-surveillance against ICE, and hopefully protect their communities through clever use of technology. https://www.eff.org/deeplinks/2026/01/how-hackers-are-fighting-back-against-ice

@eff love Benn Jordan so much!

Wish he was on Mastodon.

@eff How far has the U.S. come. I think the fear of the Stasi was not different. Sad times that the people have to fight against a minority of power-obsessed would-be rulers. I wonder how long it takes until the pressure cooker explodes.

@eff Technology is also being used by ICE against citizens.

Be careful where technology comes from . They could be playing both sides.

A database of people who want to avoid ICE would be invaluable to this terrorist organisation.

@eff Perhaps some of these hackers could find the Epstein Files and publish them?

@eff Borders are important, and their violation is a huge portion of the cause of the suffering today. Those who violate borders are by definition criminals, and the removal of these criminals is justice.

@ShovelTrouble
Correct, but

(a) the ends do not justify the means, and
(b) deport first then ask questions is not justice.
