The "email collection" section of my website is now two years old and consists of 97 emails.
https://daniel.haxx.se/blog/2024/01/12/emails-i-received-the-collection/
someone contacted me the other day via DM on Mastodon since they were convinced all my emails are public and they didn't want to get exposed.
Let me assure you: my emails are only public when I want them to be.
@bagder I suppose the idea that 97 messages in two years represents the sum total of your incoming email is fairly charming.
@bagder Well, are we sure no intelligence agency is so interested in curl that they’re making backups of your emails as well? 😂
@philip we can certainly never be 100% sure, but...
@bagder I know I know, tinfoil hat. Just a funny thought to me.
@bagder I, too, am buried in... "interesting" e-mails. I wish they'd get a life.
Here's an inspirational quote from one of those emails.
@bagder 😂😂
@bagder Any non-binary will attest to that
yeah, but did you ever restore that dude's son's high speed access?

U KNOW WHAT
OUR GOVERNMENT IS CAPABLE OF. IK WHAT THEY WERE CAPABLE OF IN THE
50S!!!!!
i mean.. yes. but also lol.
two concepts that many developers don't think much about are connectedness (how many things talk/connect that you aren't even aware of) and unintended use/consequences.
i think it's great you keep this collection to remind you and others of how much we all don't know about how our work is used or how the things we do use don't work the way we think they do. :)
Given the amount of emails you get from people seeing your name in legal notices, I'm sure if there are actual martians you'll be the first to find out!

Dear Earthling.
This thing came flying on our house. The house collapsed because of it.
We took it apart to figure out where it came from. Imagine our surprise when we discovered it was from Earth.
Please take your crap off our house.
Yours,
The Martian.
