Did you know you can put your entire music collection into your pocket?!

ikr

I'm holding an original iPod from 2001

@thomasfuchs And actually use shuffle for albums! Crazy!

@mojala to be fair you could get one of those 400-CD changers

@thomasfuchs True, but a bit awkward to carry around. At some point when moving laptops i or Apple ficked up and my lovingly ripped Collection got lost to the cloud. And now i can’t do a shuffle for my own records and no, even if it’s just a handful of records that can’t be found elsewhere it still sucks.

@thomasfuchs
I've seen that people are modifying these now, i think better screens and solid state drives for starters but i am not really an apple guy so i haven't looked that close. Sounds like these old iPods are really loved though

@thomasfuchs I’ve been fighting with my mac to re-initialize my iPod. It got corrupted at some point and now I can't load any music onto it...and the new Music app sucks with interating with it...i'm annoyed

@RnDanger some models are sought after for excellent sound quality, iirc for example the “5.5G” Video iPod

@thomasfuchs @RnDanger that *is* a fantastic one. Can easily run rock-box; replacement bits readily available, mod kits for solid stage storage too.

@thomasfuchs Still can, thanks to the combined powers of USB cables and termux 🙂

@thomasfuchs Not on THAT you fuckin can't! That particular model of iPod held what, five or ten gigs? :)

The RCA Lyra was way better than the iPod anyway... :)
