I never take a picture of shopping cart mode, even though it's one of my favourite brompton features, so today I'm correcting that. Here is shopping cart mode.

A yellow electric brompton folded into a "shopping cart". The back wheel is folded under so that it rests on the rear rack, where there are little wheels just for this purpose. The front wheel is folded to the side and back so that it's next to the rear wheel, off the ground. The seat is down so that the seat post holds the wheels in place, it won't unfold accidentally. The handlebars are up to act as a shopping cart handle. There is a basket on the luggage block, which is now swung around to be between the seat and the handlebars. The bike is next to shopping carts and baskets in a grocery store. I have a few items in the basket.

@Kellyshenanigans I love this feature too but here in the US, I've had more than one store tell me that I have to use their shopping cart or basket 😢

@t36k @Kellyshenanigans: Easy peasy: Put the Brompton in their shopping cart. And if they argue it's insanitarily, put it on the beverages crate holder. (In the hope that US shopping carts have something like that, too.)

A red and white, folded Brompton folding bicycle sitting on the folded out beverages crate holder below the handle of a shopping cart, secured by a small, orange strap between the shopping bag hanger of the shopping cart and the Brompton's trailer hitch.

@t36k
Wut. What is their stated reasoning?

@wouter @Kellyshenanigans They didn't outright say. But I think they are worried mostly about theft as it was security that asked me and not an employee.

@t36k @wouter @Kellyshenanigans I would be tempted to ask where their secure bike parking is. Lack of it is one of the reasons I hesitate to try bike shopping in my location. Being able to take the bike into the store would solve a some of the problems
