I've traveled worldwide promoting & for 30 years.
> 2 million miles BIS (Butt In Seat) — 1.3mil on .

But today I ponder hotels. I've stayed at 100s of hotel worldwide of all sizes — from “dives” to (very occasionally) 5⭐ — & from B&Bs to 25 floors w/2 towers.

In 30 years,only *twice* could I not get 🚿 hot water (at least after 30-80 seconds).

Is there some solved temp/#OfRooms/liter equation for this magic to happen all over the world? Esp. at peak 🚿⏰?

@bkuhn As a hotel worker here, the magic is that if that does not happen you have the phones at front desk ringing like the Armageddon is coming to town, add a bunch of angry customers in person telling you that you have ruined their stay/day/life and will be traumatised for the rest of their lives. And it doesn't matter you got the problem solved in 10 minutes the fury will remain untouched and the customers will probably remind you of the incident during all their stay every time they see you.

@ghostdancer
That sounds like you're talking from experience...

@bkuhn
I saw a reality TV show on Belgian television a while ago about the construction and eventual opening of a luxury hotel.

Shortly before paying guests would arrive, they did a dress rehearsal with hotel and construction staff staying in the rooms.

At 7am sharp, everyone in every room was to put on the shower, wait 2 minutes, and check the temperature.

Was a major issue that the temperature wasn't what it was supposed to be.

Pretty sure there's a formula, yes

@bkuhn a plumber told me they use circulating plumbing. Rather than a dead end like in most houses, it runs back into the hot water system

That way the water doesn't cool off in the pipes even if no one has used hot water in hours
