Does a settler colonialist apartheid state guilty of ethnic cleansing and genocide have the right to exist?

@aral
That's right. You're right... they love killing. Gaza now only occupies 40% of its original area, with the rest completely under Israeli control. Just imagine the suffering we endure in this cramped space.

@aral probably yes? Why should the state of south Africa not exist?

The murderers leading the state are the problem, not the state?

@klausi Oh, I wasn’t aware that apartheid South Africa still existed. Thought we’d dismantled it through boycotts, divestment, and sanctions (BDS) and overwhelming international condemnation and isolation.

So you’re saying we should do the same thing to Israel?

Sounds good to me.

@aral yeah we should.

I wouldn't say BDS was right in the past, but it is certainly now.

Should we treat Israel like South Africa? Barely anyone got punished there and the regime change premise was peaceful.

Can you imagine Netanjahu going free?

But anyway, of course the state of Israel has a right to exist in peaceful form when the genocide ends.

@aral
as there's election next week, all political parties in the danish parliament resply to this: »yes! — and criticizing "israel" is antisemitic.«

even the eco-socialist left party have that in their programme now and have now expelled the palestine solidarity fraction for being »damaging to the party.« 😒

@aral the government and contractors don’t but the citizens do.

@klausi BDS wasn’t right past when?

> Can you imagine Netanjahu going free?

Sadly, yes. Unless something fundamentally changes in the world order.

> But anyway, of course the state of Israel has a right to exist in peaceful form when the genocide ends.

Heck, we can even call it Palestine.

@aral @klausi As a South African, while sadly I have to admit that we still have to deal with some of the legacies of Apartheid, I can assure you that we have a fully democratic government for decades now and that we certainly don't have an Apartheid government. In fact we have one of the most robust bill of rights in the world that protects the rights of all citizens.

@pelle Criticising Israel is antisemitic, ergo criticism of Israel is criticism of Jews, ergo all Jews suport settler colonialism, apartheid, ethnic cleansing, and genocide, ergo the original statement is antisemitic.

@aral
Personally I would love to see Israel returned to its pre-1967 borders, with its security guaranteed by international forces, and severe economic sanctions applied if it ever tried expansionism again.
