@wouter man, I think it would make my day if I got a response like this. I always add at least a little something of my own in any mass email campaign situation

@Jeremy I've written my MP many many times about many things that I disagree with him on (which is... pretty much everything). The only time he ever responded was months after I wrote and called his office, when he cold-called me(!) to talk about the SpaceX space debris that fell in his riding months earlier. He's never responded to a single other email I've sent his office.

@Jeremy Not voting because I'm in the UK, but my MP has a very clear pattern of replying after the relevant vote/debate/whatever has happened, and then just sending me the party-line statement, regardless of whether it addresses any of the specific points I raised in my email. It is not democratically inspiring.

@denny Indeed not. And yet they all love to talk about what we can do to restore faith and trust and whatnot. It's rare that any of them will have the guts to make the connection between this kind of disfunction and our FPTP electoral systems though.

@sundogplanets I love the idea that this guy might have had you on his "safe to ignore" list. Then a load of space junk comes raining down on him and his buddies and he's like "oh shit that lady was right. This IS a bad thing . . . I wonder if she's right about anything else 🤔."
