S-tier bougie-ass thing to want but “fits in an IKEA frame” is a thing I kinda wish more fan artists could aim for, I’m way past dorm poster adhesive years old but arbitrary custom frame sizing is bonkers expensive. “I wanna frame this but not, like, an expensive frame” is kind of a dick thing to say, I get it, but…

@mhoye less money spent on frames, more money available for art.

But also a very practical thing for working artists to hear and mention in their descriptions!

I like buying art matted but not framed, because cutting the mats is easier with special tools and mats are cheaper in bulk. Also the artist might have an interesting eye for mat color. And it’s that much more protected in the mail.

@mhoye

@mhoye I still wish Ikea had taken over Nokia and started making phones and laptops.

@mhoye 1000%! Maybe I pay the artist $20 for a print, cool, but then I'm supposed to pay some store $90 to frame it, because it's 1" taller than standard?? I can't! 😩 Make it cheap-frame friendly and I can pay you more 😆

@gvwilson So many people lack vision

@mhoye On any given day we have a backlog of half a dozen pieces of ORT that can’t go anywhere because there’s some tiny accountant in your head that regulates the “reasonable” amount you should spend on framing every year and yeah, bougie af but sometimes it’d just nice not to.

@rmi "ORT"?

@mhoye frames are stupid expensive. It can sometimes be worth it, but yeah..

Also it is nice to have something nice to put up without spending a bunch of money on it.
