I have been using since around 2004.

That is 22 years, for those keeping count.

I cannot express how disappointed I am that Debian is going to allow for to be used in commits. For 22 years I have been a fairly vocal advocate for people to use Debian.

Over the next couple of months I will be transitioning all of my Debian systems to or other Non-Slopified distros.

@debacle @Ganneff @j4yc33 With that argument, what sense does it make to run a FOSS operating system? The hardware I'm running this on is proprietary, so if I apparently accept this as being okay, why would I strive for the OS to be free?
None of us can move the world. Each of us can only work on a small part of it. I can be *for* making Debian packaging LLM free (that's the part I'm working on) while accepting that this ship has sailed for other parts of my OS (but that's out of my hands).

@debacle @josch @Ganneff @j4yc33 this explicitly covered only contributions to Debian, and it's laughable that no ban on LLM usage for that passed. If you need a slop machine to create some packaging, you're not suited to be a DD IMO. Creating my first package was the gateway for me to learn git, more about Linux etc., which is not possible at all it you offload that.

@debacle @Ganneff @j4yc33 @josch Also, the permanent DoS on both our and the larger FOSS infrastructure is apparently fine. No-one seriously addressed that. This is like getting beaten up and stating " this is just the cost of doing business". This will just lead to more maintainer burnout, and if you do not take a firm stance against slop (or fascism, for that matter), you are helping it, whether you like it or not.

@debacle @Ganneff @j4yc33 Oh no sorry I didn't mean to criticize *you*, no worries. I was just trying to say that I can have a bit of sympathy for users who say that they swap out one distro for the other. Of course the packaging code is be minimal compared to the rest of the OS. But I also think user-choices do indirectly matter because users build community and community attracts developers. That GR is probably going to be a filter for what users+devs we attract in the future (like every GR).

@werdahias @josch @debacle @j4yc33 Yes, people switch. And I'm just pointing out that switching between systems that all use the Linux kernel because of "Debian allows AI" is just .... not entirely thought through.
