@whitequark i was going to port this to solaris 7 For The Funny but cmake 3.x is almost impossible to get working on non-Linux *nixes and I don't think ruby is going to play nice long enough to work correctly either.
@parzivalwolfram ruby isn't a hard dependency but recent cmake is. if you really wanted, the new build system could maybe be ported to meson, but i doubt that's much better
1: a few modules are missing in muon, but the base dsl is all there
@navi @parzivalwolfram to be clear, we just redid the cmake and won't have time for meson any time soon if ever. but if someone else contributed it that calculus changes
@navi that helps a lot, actually, as long as it also doesn't actually need python3. Thank you for pointing me to Muon.
fwiw there's also even `samurai` for a c impl of ninja, though often c++ is less of an issue than python when porting
