When I started thinking about the design of the Yasi GUI, my plan was always to make it adaptable to a TUI app. Now that I have some time to toy around with Textual in earnest, I'm quite excited by the results.

@Anarcat Yep, it's Yet Another System Installer as olasd said. Might eventually get another name. It's my attempt at fixing all the problems with current installers, it's still about a month or two since it will be ready for a first public alpha, although there's a snapshot in testing that almost kind of works.

After some more toying around... really amazing what you can do with a TUI these days.

@ivanhoe It looks like that in all modern terminal emulators (kitty, iTerm2, xterm, Windows Terminal, foot, etc). In other terminals, like VTE-based terminals that don't (yet) support images, it falls back to drawing the image using whatever characters it can find with the available colour pallette (screenshot attached of what it looks like in gnome-terminal). @ivanhoe On my virtual console, it does display, but in 16 colours only, which looks quite horrible. In theory you could run it under fbterm or kmscon, but I tried these and results.... vary. I don't intend to run the TUI-based installer on bare VCs, I think the world has (sadly) given up on them. So the plan is to run it on a minimal Wayland session on Linux-based systems and in a minimal Xorg session on other unixy operating systems (NetBSD, RavynOS, etc)
