Signal Messenger is warning that Recall, the AI tool rolling out in Windows 11 that will screenshot, index, and store everything a user does every three seconds, poses a risk to its users. Effective immediately, the Windows Desktop version will by default block the ability of Windows to screenshot the app. Of course, Microsoft provides no API to disable Recall from screenshotting specific apps, so Signal is getting creative. They are invoking a digital rights management API that blocks the screenshotting of copyrighted material.

From a quick look around, it seems Wi-Fi 7 is still new-ish, and all laptops I could find with such a chip are a little pricey (1000+ EUR). If you know about a cheaper option (I mostly care about the Wi-Fi 7 thing) that can get delivered to France, I'd love to hear from you!

Otherwise I guess I'll investigate external adapters (USB-A/USB-C), that seem to be ~ 50-100 EUR.

Context: #Linux 6.12, #Debian #Trixie, to develop/test support in the installer.

So much casual hatred of men and masculinity on this platform. Unrelated: anybody knows where all our trans masc friends are?

I know, there is a lot of masculinity trauma out there, we do live in a patriarchy after all. But I'm trying to heal, and finding myself in a bubble that virtuously embraces its trauma is not helping towards that goal.

The counter to toxic masculinity is healthy masculinity, not toxic antimasculinity.
