It's only a u-boat if it's made in the Untersee region of Germany. Otherwise it's just a sparkling submarine

helpful tip

a black and white diagram showing an isometric line drawing of a DIP chip in a socket, with several pins bent out of place. it is labelled "Incorrect chip installation"

Just got this from Microslop GitHub:

> We're updating how GitHub uses data to improve AI-powered coding tools. From April 24 onward, your interactions with GitHub Copilot—including inputs, outputs, code snippets, and associated context—may be used to train and enhance AI models unless you opt out.

I barely ever use GitHub. When I do, it's when I am forced to because some project I rely on only uses GitHub.

If your project is only using GitHub, please consider migrating.

@overflo looks like slop though

@niconiconi insert "too poor to pay for a double layer PCB? Just place 0 Ohm resistors all over the place. You certainly won't regret placing 0 Ohm resistors all over the place." meme

Finally got around to taking apart my USB-C dock. I want to replace the barrel jack by a standard one since the one HP has in there I've never seen. Next steps: measuring which pin is which + the dimensions of the footprint and finding a suitable replacement. The bottom of the jack can be seen top middle next to the SMD caps.

@domi @elly I love german brainrot memes

mmmhm, I should design open hardware

@pointlessone @swags

openrc’s most common init script:

#!/sbin/openrc-run

supervisor=supervise-daemon
command=/usr/bin/foo
command_args="--nya"

really, we’re not sysvinit where you don’t have supervision and need to implement start/stop, and the same stupid pidfile logic, manually every time

what specifically does openrc lack? why do people see “shell” and immediately jump off, when it addresses all the issues sysvinit/lsb init scripts had

@th hmm, this does look like a GPIB port

@rohini yeah, this hit different in school when we learned about the atrocities Belgium committed in the Congo. Really fucked, and in Brussel the statue of King Leopold II still stand, like he wasn't instrumental to it.

Big Endian won't tell you this but you don't actually need to chose between big- and little-endian, you can just select no endianness!

Endinaness was invented by Big Endian to sell more big-endian

A dropdown where byte order can be selected. The options are little-endian, big-endian, default endianness and No endianness.

@lkundrak If you know which file you want you can use apt-file to find it.

We finally can have KiCad10. Its long overdue, but there were so many annoying issues that have been fixed in the last weeks, it was just not ready[1].

The tags for the release of 10.0.0 have been set on the repository.

Now we just need for the builds to complete. The release blogpost will soon be available as well.

[1] I am sure there are plenty of issues/bugs left, but that's what the 10.0.1 release is for.

@cccpresser alles klar

@cccpresser relativ
biased, aber:
IC identification. Wenn auf dem Silkscreen keine reference designators sind, und man nur ne kryptische IC Beschriftung hat.

I am not sorry.

Ceci n'est pas une pipe written in a monospaced font. There is a UNIX pipe character | in between.

In France, we don't say "vibe-coded contribution" but "merde request" and I think it's beautiful 💩
