This needs to be said in a loop until it sticks.
"What people are not getting is that we can’t turn this back – the CO2 to a large part remains in the air for thousands of years,” said Rahmstorf. “Some people think we can wait and, when it gets too bad, then we reduce emissions and things will get better again. People don’t realise that we can’t make it get better again. We can only prevent it from getting much worse.”
- Stefan Rahmstorf, Climatologist.

It’s wild to me how women used to do most programming and it was reduced to “women’s work” until it became lucrative and then men stepped in and stole it. And now women struggle in the programming field with sexism and shit due to that

Linux, Ethik
Linus Torvalds, der Chefentwickler von Linux, sagt „keep your ethics where they belong - in your personal life“
#wacken

Israel is a small country and a regional power. It is also a client state of the west. A colony without a direct sponsor, but put into a middle position where it caries out unpleasant errands of the ruling classes and absorbs all the blame for those tasks.
Historically, European Jews were made to be tax collectors. They got privileges and protection from the monarch, but also absorbed the blame for unjust taxes. When there were rebellions over unjust taxation, the violence fell on Jews rather than the monarchs. This middle position is thus a very long running facet of European antisemitism and the dominant factor in current policy towards Israel.
People then liked to imagine that Jews invented taxes. Now they like to imagine that Jews control their governments. In their mind, its not the overwhelmingly (culturally) Christian political leadership arming Israel for their own reasons, but rather a conspiracy. This fallacy is as ancient as it is tiresome and wrong.
Israel's actions are absolutely wrong and our countries should quit enabling this. But let's be real about how the power relationships are working. The US, the EU and Russia are global powers. Israel is a source of regional instability, busily killing rather a lot of people. Joe Biden could have told them to stop and they likely would have dialed it back. We could still tell them to stop. We could stop sending weapons. Realistically, they have no real ability to dictate _our_ policies at all, nor do they have any particular economic leverage.
People who assert an inversion of the actual power relationships are not just wrong, they are building on a dangerous foundation. We should not just roll our eyes. Our governments' actions may feel out of democratic control, but they are our problems to solve. We must seize agency and stop looking for an alien other to blame. Especially not an enemy within.
i think we can make americans understand european heatwaves if we put a yellow BrBa mexico filter over the sun for clarity's sake
