@liw halfjokingly suggested Debian GNU/NetBSD today

the social contract that allows the web to exist at all is literally collapsing in real time
https://people.kernel.org/monsieuricon/creepy-crawlies

@debacle @josch @Ganneff @j4yc33 I disagree, there is no being neutral. Already people are looking for alternatives to Debian since the project decided that way.

@debacle @Ganneff @j4yc33 @josch Also, the permanent DoS on both our and the larger FOSS infrastructure is apparently fine. No-one seriously addressed that. This is like getting beaten up and stating " this is just the cost of doing business". This will just lead to more maintainer burnout, and if you do not take a firm stance against slop (or fascism, for that matter), you are helping it, whether you like it or not.

@debacle @josch @Ganneff @j4yc33 this explicitly covered only contributions to Debian, and it's laughable that no ban on LLM usage for that passed. If you need a slop machine to create some packaging, you're not suited to be a DD IMO. Creating my first package was the gateway for me to learn git, more about Linux etc., which is not possible at all it you offload that.

Since I'm glad to finally be able to do this, and wanna get this hardware in as many interested hands as possible, I am discounting the eater-deluxe 6502 based personal computer DIY kit on @tindie@hackaday.social down to USD 151.74, that's EUR 131, up until Friday, September 3rd!

#6502

@Ganneff this is the main problem: You can't just quit using the kernel. I for one will invest my contributions in something I deem a more valuable use of my time. Depressing that it's come to that, #Debian is too much sunk cost at this point for me.

"responsible LLM usage" is the "clean coal" of the tech world

@tris @doctormo @dalias @leah yes, the 3:1 majority would have been needed because of the social contract amendment.

@mirabilos @BetaRays the only (small) consolation is that I know I did all that was possible, and that I am on the right side of things.

@fabos
No idea about a list, but:

Gentoo: ban
GUIX: ban
FreeBSD: ban

off the top of my head.

Well, looks like I'll be greatly reducing my #Debian involvement:

Very disappointing.

Great, neovim, which I am kinda invested in (plugins, LSP), has no problem hosting fascists.
Already some of my favorites like tmux turned to slop, but I can't live without neovim.
This is just depressing, honestly. I kinda can't ditch my editor, and already am maintaining a few plugins for it. Not sure what I'll do.

Alternating blinking in pure RISC-V assembler: done.

Modern Dependency Problems (with apologies and thanks to XKCD)

Probably needs more arrows, tbh

The classic XKCD dependency stack cartoon, but relabeled. The image shows a huge pile of boxes representing "all modern digital infrastructure" precariously balanced atop each other. A label at the right (ha!) says "A project led by a guy who then turns out to be a fascist" and arrows point from that to boxes all over the diagram.

Autistici/Inventati's domains have now been revoked. I updated the link in the above post with a wayback machine copy.

Every now and then someone tells me, "We have a decentralized naming system, it's called DNS!" and I say, no we don't, DNS is extremely centralized? And if that wasn't clear to you before, hopefully it's clear to you today.

Solution
@gagath very good. This is indeed a blinking circuit ( 2 Hz and 0.167 Hz, respectively). Though it is designed to let the LEDs shine through from the back, so a luminous effect is created.

Circuit coming along nicely. Any guesses to what its function'll be?
A KiCad screenshot showing a circuit with multiple LEDs connected in series.

I don't know who needs to hear this, but the neovim home page quotes known white supremacist David Heinemeier Hansson, and the neovim developer deletes github issues suggesting that is not cool. Thank goodness software is not political.
