@vantablack my local council had a wonderful moment there recently; they're trying to push through a congestion charge so people have to pay money to be allowed to drive in the central parts of the city

and they went "but it's fine we'll also improve bus services to compensate honest"

and then a week later the private operator that runs all the bus services in the entire district went "actually we're closing a bunch of lines that aren't profitable enough lmao"

@vantablack (the main issue with congestion charges of course is that it'll disproportionately affect disabled people with mobility issues who can't walk between bus or train stops and home/their destination and who are already more likely to be lower income than abled folks, etc etc you know how this stuff all compounds every time)

@contrapunctus @vantablack can and usually are but of course "with disabilities" there gets gatekept via other criteria (for example "gets government disability benefits") that are themselves gatekept or restricted to specific disabilities or conditions, etc
