I would like to know this too.
Apparently you can use Zbar to scan QR codes and barcodes with a camera, and then paste the results into LibreOffice Calc.
Maybe this can be automated?
LibreOffice Calc can create QR codes and barcodes for you.
I've never done this myself, so it's just a pointer 🙂
PS. both are packages in Debian of course.
@debacle InvenTree is intended as a fully fledged inventory management; sounds like a simpler asset management solution like Snipe-It might be enough for your simple use cases
Still not sure what I want to set up to track my parts; I need DigiKey import and barcode printing support.

@werdahias @debacle InvenTree can do that and I think for the average electronics nerd/semi-professional the feature set proves to be required.
A lot of stuff can be configured; maybe take a look at https://docs.inventree.org/en/stable/start/config/ to see what is possible.
@debacle FWIW, you don't actually have to use all the bits that Snipe-IT comes with ;)
